The bass is fundamentally an improvisational instrument and a rhythm instrument. It is about feeling and connecting with a groove and learning to hear what is in the music and what can be added. Creativity is the key!

Music is a language, and needs to be taught like a language. Too many bass guitar teachers in Winnipeg give students a few songs to play, but never give them the ability to express themselves. This is as if when you were learning to speak you were given certain words to say, and then corrected when you said them wrong! Would you have ever learned to speak?
Instead, my bass lessons allow you the freedom to explore, even from the very beginning. Improvisation and songwriting are used as a tool to instill a deeper and more intuitive understanding of music – just like a language!

In my bass lessons I take a step by step approach, breaking down techniques and concepts into their fundamental elements, allowing you to build your skills and musicality in a structured way.
So in my guitar lessons you’ll learn all the foundational elements of bass playing, including:

-Improvisation/Jamming
-Technique
-Playing by ear
-Music theory
-Creating basslines
Students also receive video practice routines, recorded at the end of the guitar lesson to help reinforce concepts that we’ve explored in the lesson.
